Cross Country with a Difference

The cross country team’s final training session of term had a Christmas theme.  Most of the 20 pupils, plus Mr Fenn, Mr Hugill and Mr Jeanes all wore seasonal decorations or dress!  It was suggested that one of our classic training courses, Chicken Surprise, should be renamed Turkey Surprise for the day, but unfortunately it was too wet to do this course. We admired Kit Anderson’s elf ears and Adam Wood’s Scooby Doo, but after several seconds’ consideration by the judges, the seasonal prizes were awarded to Iona Black and Rory Ellis, resplendent in their Santa hats and tinsel!

Good news has recently come through for the cross country team – we have three Wakefield champions. Alice Lightfoot won the senior girls’ championship, George Heppinstall the Year 7 boys, winning all three races in which he took part, and the Year 8 and 9 girls’ team of Iona Black, Lizzie Morris, Susanna Smith and Hannah Macro won their team competition. Congratulations to everyone involved in the team’s success this term.
