GCSE Science Conference

Forty-four GCSE Science students attended a conference in Leeds on Monday 29th November, where scientists at the top of their field told them about their research and how science may develop in the future.  The speakers included Professor Steve Jones talking about Human Evolution; Dr Kate Lancaster who gave an insight into her work on Nuclear Fusion; Professor Jim Al Khalili who looked at the possibility of time travel in relation to Einstein’s theories; Professor Dave Cliff looking forward to the unbelievable new developments in computer technology and Dr Andrea Sella who looked at the link between chemistry and how the mechanisms in living organisms allow features such as a zebra’s stripes to develop.

Congratulations to the students who attended and represented the school extremely well.  The day was academically challenging but provided a lot of food for thought and some exciting insights into what may happen in the future.
