On a rare fine day, our Year 5 pupils, together with three staff and five parent helpers, enjoyed a visit to Tropical World and Roundhay Park. Snakes, terrapins, fish, tamarins, meerkats, tree frogs, butterflies and bats, to name but a few, were some of the creatures on show at Tropical World. From the heat and humidity of the rainforest to the dryness of the desert, the children learned about the variety and life cycles of the creatures on show.
Then it was time to go out into the fresh air and space of Roundhay Park, after lunch, to enjoy an ‘information hunt’ around the castle, lakes and park. There was lots of time to ‘run off steam’ before enjoying an ice cream. The it was back to the bus to be whisked back to school – having made the most of a wonderful opportunity for learning outside the classroom.
