In this age of computer games on laptops and hand-held devices it is really great to see the rise in popularity of real board games like chess. We had twice as many pupils opting for this activity this year, ranging from those who had never played the game before to those with some experience. Out of the rain, in the lovely surroundings of the School Library, pupils from Years 7 to 10 developed their skills and, hopefully, will be encouraged to come along to the Senior Chess Club which is held every Thursday lunchtime during term time in the same venue.
