Welcome to the Old Silcoatians’ Association pages of the website.
I was elected Chairman of the OSA at the AGM held on 25th June 2011 and look forward to building on the work my predecessors and the Committee have done to date.
Membership of the OSA is open to former pupils, members of staff and any friend of the school or the Foundation whom the Association wishes to honour. The Committee itself is made up of former pupils and members of staff past and present, with the Headmaster and the Chairman of Governors in attendance to lend their support as well.
The aim of the Association is to unite former pupils of all generations of Silcoates School through a number of social events during the year, while at the same time working with the Foundation in promoting the welfare of the School and Foundation.
Last year we raised over £10,000 for the all-weather pitch and pledged an additional £10,000 from the OSA Life Fund to go to the project. The OSA Committee agreed at its meeting on 6th September 2011 that any money raised from events held in the coming year will go towards bursaries and scholarships for the School and Foundation.
Our social events include:-
- The Annual Quiz Night, which was held on Friday 14th October this year.
- The Sportsman’s Dinner, brought back last year by popular demand and, following its successful revival, now firmly re-established in the annual calendar of events, which is to be held on Friday 18th May 2012. - And finally, the Old Silcoatians’ Day and Annual Dinner, to be held on Saturday 16th June 2012, so save the date!! Further details will be provided shortly via the website.
