The JuniorSchool Curriculum

The children undertake a broad and balanced curriculum which aims to equip them for life in the senior school and for life in the 21st century.

All children study English, mathematics, science, geography, history, RE, ICT, DT, a modern foreign language, PE, swimming, music and art. In Years 1 – 4 most of this is taught by your child’s form teacher (with specialists teaching music, PE and foreign languages) but by Years 5 and 6 there is significantly more subject specialist teaching and the children practise personal organisation skills as they move around the school and meet some Senior School staff for certain lessons. This helps to prepare them for life in the Senior School.

Our curriculum goes much further than the academic, however. Through a programme of personal and social education, assemblies and form time, children are shown how to deal with each other and how to work together. This is reinforced through visits and residential trips and a wide ranging programme of extra-curricular activities. We believe that the result is a happy and productive school.
