Silcoates Parents Association
The SPA represents all three of the Wrenthorpe based Foundation schools – Silcoates Senior School, Silcoates Junior School and Silcoates Sunny Hill. The aim is exactly the same as it was previously, that is to organise events throughout the year both to raise money for the school and to promote a friendly and social place for the children, parents and school staff.
The main events range from Christmas parties, discos and fairs to summer picnics and fun nights for the children. We organise a spring ball and help the school with the summer ball, as well as supporting the staff by serving refreshments at Sports Days and plays. Regular coffee mornings are also held to which all parents are invited and this is a great way to meet others and make new friends. We are also present at the Open Mornings to speak to prospective new parents and pupils.
Examples of things that we have purchased in the past are PA systems, display cabinets, playground equipment, golf clubs, sports kits, gazebos, as well as equipment for various clubs including photography, cookery and radio.
The committee usually meets twice a term, and is supplemented by a number of volunteers who are keen to help out at events without getting too involved in the meetings. If you are interested in either joining the committee or becoming a volunteer please contact one of the members below.
