St. Hilda’s is a school where children aged from 0 to 7 years are able to blossom and grow in a stimulating learning environment, for 51 weeks of the year.
Children may attend St. Hilda’s from birth in a specialised 0-3 unit and then move seamlessly through the school. At 7 years old, the boys and girls transfer to Silcoates School.
St. Hilda’s has a long and enviable reputation of achievement, where children make very good progress, confidently and with enjoyment. The school occupies a beautiful Grade II listed building, a former convent in the centre of Horbury. The picturesque setting provides a safe and stimulating learning environment in which children can flourish. A team of dedicated, experienced teachers and staff work closely with parents to ensure that all pupils reach their full potential. Small class sizes and lots of space enable the children to receive the care and attention they deserve.
A recent inspection report noted that:
- “Outstanding pastoral care and rigorous arrangements for the pupils’ welfare, health and safety underpin the success of the school.”
- “The pupils’ personal development is Outstanding and a significant strength of the school.”
- “The overall quality of pupils’ achievement is Outstanding.”
- “The standard of teaching is Excellent.”
- “The quality of care and the resources for outdoor learning are Outstanding.”
- “The outcomes for the children in the EYFS, including those under three, are good overall and many are Outstanding.”
- “Children in the older classes demonstrate Outstanding achievement for their ages in early writing, number and in creative development, and by the end of Reception year most children meet or exceed the levels expected at that age in all areas of learning.”
My staff and I are always happy to answer any questions you may have, and I am confident that should you take the opportunity to come and see us you will be overwhelmed by the warmth of the school and the standards that the children achieve. Please contact us to arrange a mutually convenient time to take a look around our beautiful school.
We look forward to seeing you.
