Our last Year 11 Chapel before study leave (which included Year 10 as well, of course) was on the theme of ‘Many ways to say goodbye’. We looked at some photos that had been prepared by Alanya French (a handful of which are below) to remind us what Year 11 had been about. Our hymn had been written by Hannah Warwicker (peer mentoring team leader) and Revd Lees, but we were unable to sing it as Hannah, who has been our organist this year, was unwell. So we read it instead and we reproduce it here for those who want to sing it later!
Our Bible reading was Jesus saying Goodbye to his friends. This was followed by George Reid singing ‘Don’t look back in anger’ by Oasis. After Revd Lees gave the blessing Phil Townley (U6) was joined by ‘Phil’s Minions’ (Stephen Molloy, Freddie Laving and Alistair Taylor) for ‘American Idiot’ by Green Day, and on the way out we received our final Silcoates buns of the year.
Year 11 Hymn, 2012
Glory to God for Year Eleven
Which has been like a taste of heaven.
Glory to God for every friend:
It’s sad it’s coming to an end.
Thanks be to God for Mr Fenn
Who solved problems time and again.
Thanks too for staff of every sort
And everything they ever taught.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise God all creatures here below,
Praise God also in Silcoates School
Which as a place has been quite cool.
