Our annual Remembrance service, Silcoates Remembers, took place on Sunday. It was an opportunity for Silcoatians from different generations to come together to remember those who have died in war. Our service opened with our new organist George Bentley (Yr 8), playing the opening voluntary and first hymn ‘Father we love you’. The Last Post was sounded by Joe Reid, current Head of School, who together with Eve Howarth, the other Head of School, also gave a reading. Andrew Jefferey of the Silcoatians Association read the Bible reading, and also laid a wreath. The choir, conducted by Mr David Hall, sang the anthem ‘We will remember them’ and the final Kohima Epitaph was spoken by Douglas Haigh (Yr 7).
