Silcoates news

Read all about it…The first edition of our school newspaper is here!

Welcome to the very first edition of our school newspaper, The Silcoatian!

I hope you enjoy reading all the different articles on the following pages, where you will find a huge variety of content reflecting all aspects of Silcoates life. From pupil articles sharing their favourite aspects of school to event highlights, staff contributions and pupil-parent comparisons of how times at school have changed, there really is something for everyone to enjoy in this first edition.

Silcoates is a school where every young person is known, supported and encouraged to become the very best version of themselves. We recognise the importance of supporting pupils to become well-rounded individuals who achieve excellent academic success, develop skills, passions and experiences outside the classroom, and grow into confident, kind and compassionate people who are able and motivated to make a positive impact on the people and places they encounter. I hope the following pages reflect this holistic approach to education and you will appreciate the amazing variety of opportunities and experiences available to our pupils as well as the inspiring attitude and abilities they bring to all that goes on at school and who never cease to impress us in all they achieve!

None of this would be possible without the support of a wider community and I am indebted and grateful to the staff, parents and supporters of the school for all they do to help us achieve our aims and give our pupils the best possible educational experience. Our school years are formative times that so often make a big impact on who we become as adults. It is my desire to ensure all Silcoates pupils are able to look back with fondness at their time in school and recognise the positive impact it has made on their lives. The introduction of this school newspaper, amongst other things, will provide another record of all that goes on in this wonderful school and help us celebrate the successes of our pupils, the support of the wider community and the Silcoates spirit in all its splendour!

Happy reading!
