Year 11 pupils celebrated another year of impressive GCSE results in 2025.
In 2025, 43% of all grades were awarded at 9–7 (equivalent to A*–A), almost double the national average of 21.8%. We are especially proud that a remarkable 15% of all pupils achieved a full set of results at grade 7 or above. Furthermore, almost two-thirds of grades (64%) were awarded at grades 9-6. These figures continue to demonstrate the impact of Silcoates’ high-quality teaching and the supportive learning environment that enables its pupils to achieve such impressive levels of attainment.
Pupils also made excellent progress and achieved outstanding value-added success. The proportion of top grades (9–7) achieved was 24% higher than baseline assessment predictions, and across the whole cohort, pupils in all ability groups made significant progress and achieved positive value-added scores. This shows, once again, that all pupils achieve higher grades than expected when they join Silcoates, reflecting the School’s commitment to helping each pupil to achieve beyond expectations.
As I prepare to join Silcoates as Head in September, it is inspiring to see such exceptional results from the Year 11 cohort. These outcomes are a testament to their determination, positivity, and commitment to excellence, supported every step of the way by our dedicated staff and their families. It’s clear that Silcoates is a place where pupils are encouraged to aim high and achieve more than they thought possible. I look forward to meeting and working with these talented young people as many of them continue into our Sixth Form, and I wish every one of them the very best for the exciting journeys ahead.
Silcoates Head, Phil King
