Leadership Opportunities

One key aspect of the Sixth Form is the vast array of opportunities to develop leadership skills. Being able to show that one can confidently and competently lead a team are vital skills. Whether this be leading a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition or being part of a team of volunteers in our Tanzania humanitarian projects, there are always a multitude of different ways to be involved.

One unique aspect of Silcoates is that the entire school, from age 3-18, is housed on one site, allowing for strong relationships to be built between year groups and this gives older students the opportunity to lead younger pupils. This family ethos is highlighted through our hugely successful Peer Mentoring, Paired Reading and Anti-Bullying schemes, which day-to-day are led by the Prefect team.

There are many roles and responsibilities within the Sixth Form ranging from being a Chapel Steward to becoming the captain of one of our sports teams, or applying to become a Prefect and thus an ambassador for the School.

A large part of the Sixth Form is the enrichment programme which runs alongside A Level study. The Enrichment course includes opportunities such as ASDAN, HSLA and the Gold Arts Award, where leadership skills need to be demonstrated in order to complete the qualification.
